The useful starting point
Choose a product for a defined role in your routine, read its complete label and directions, and compare the actual pack size and checkout cost. A highlighted ingredient or a before-and-after image does not establish how the finished product will work for you.
Define the role before adding another product
Write down what you are replacing or adding: a cleanser, moisturiser, makeup item or another specific step. List the products you already use so you can identify duplication. A bundle is not automatically useful if several items have no clear role in your routine.
Separate a preference, such as texture or fragrance, from a medical concern. Persistent skin symptoms need appropriate professional assessment rather than a shopping comparison or a promise of a cure. This guide does not prescribe treatments or rate clinical effectiveness.
Save the full label, not only the headline ingredient
Look for a readable complete ingredient list, directions, warnings, pack quantity, batch and expiry information and the manufacturer or importer details supplied for the product. If the listing omits something important, request a current label image. Check the exact formulation and variant you intend to buy.
The American Academy of Dermatology’s guidance explains that skin-care products can cause irritation and that a small-area test can help assess a reaction before wider use. It also distinguishes fragrance-free from unscented labels. Follow the product’s directions and seek a dermatologist’s advice if you have concerns about reactions; a shopping guide cannot establish individual suitability.
Compare the amount you actually receive
| Comparison field | What to record |
|---|---|
| Purpose and variant | Exact product role and formulation name |
| Quantity | Grams, millilitres or number of items, kept in matching units |
| Final amount | Product cost plus unavoidable delivery or other charges |
| Label evidence | Complete ingredients, directions and warnings available? |
| Seller and terms | Identifiable seller, return exclusions and delivery estimate |
For matching quantities, divide the final amount by grams or millilitres to compare unit cost. Do not directly compare 100 g with 100 ml without a sound basis, or assume a larger pack is better if you will not use it within its stated period.
Keep claims separate from evidence
Ask what supports a specific performance claim and whether the evidence concerns the finished product or only an ingredient. Testimonials and an ingredient’s inclusion do not establish a personal result. A sunscreen label, for example, is not evidence that SimplyFound tested the finished product’s protection.
Inspect the delivered label, seal and dates before use, and resolve mismatches with the seller. For ingestible hair or wellness products, the health-product evidence guide covers a different decision with different risks.
